About Apollo

A builder with an argument about the city

Apollo Homes was started by Jagbir Sembhi as a residential builder and has grown into a developer and general contractor working across Manitoba. The argument has not changed: Winnipeg's mature neighbourhoods should grow with homes that are better than what they replace.

The founder

Jagbir built Apollo from a single infill project into a company that designs and builds at every scale of the city: pairs and triplexes on single lots, rental buildings, a commercial condominium, custom homes, and land being planned for new neighbourhoods.

He is on site most days. He draws the first version of most Apollo plans himself, and the details that make an Apollo home recognisable, the proportions of the street face, the way the entry is set back, the mechanical room every home gets, are his.

“Most of the city's new homes are going into the neighbourhoods that already exist. That is the right place for them. They should be good enough to deserve the street.”

The company

How Apollo is built

  • Founder-owned. There is no outside capital setting the pace. Apollo builds the number of homes it can build well.
  • Built here. Winnipeg trades, kept for years. Suppliers we can drive to.
  • Written down. A specification, a fixed price, a selections record and an inspection you keep.
  • Certified. A member of the Manitoba Home Builders' Association, COR certified for safety, and a builder member of the New Home Warranty Program of Manitoba.

Dexter Kirby, Chief Operating Officer, runs the sites and the schedule.
